Company History

Business.com was launched in 1999 as a business news and resource website aimed at helping business owners and managers launch and grow their companies.

In the more than 20 years since its launch, business.com’s team of writers and industry experts have answered business owners’ questions and solved their most pressing problems. We pride ourselves on our ability to help business owners make the most important decisions about how they can use their money and resources to make smart purchases and strategic decisions that benefit their companies.

Eric Noe is vice president and editor-in-chief of business.com, running all editorial content operations. He has nearly 15 years of experience building and running digital content teams in traditional media and the startup world. Prior to joining business.com, Eric was the chief content officer at Fit Small Business and previously served as managing editor of ABC News Digital, where he ran Comscore’s No. 1 trafficked news website, and senior vice president of editorial content at Participant Media.

He is a Peabody and Edward R. Murrow Award winner, and his teams have been honored with awards from organizations, including the Society of Professional Journalists, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and the Folio Awards. His executive management work has spanned global and business news, social impact campaigns, and brand-building content partnerships. Eric has a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a bachelor’s in English from Emory University.

Chad Brooks is a business.com editor. A veteran journalist, he has been writing and editing content on small businesses and entrepreneurship for the last decade. Much of Chad’s work has been focused in the areas of small business communication, specifically on topics surrounding unified communications systems, video conferencing solutions, and conference call services.

Over his more than 20 years as a journalist and content creator, Chad’s work has appeared in a variety of publications, including Business News Daily, The Huffington Post, CNBC, Fox Business, Laptop Mag, Live Science, IT Tech News Daily and Security News Daily. A graduate of Indiana University, Chad also spent 10 years as a newspaper reporter in his hometown of Chicago, and, in 2014, he published his first book, How to Start a Home-Based App Development Business.

Prior to joining business.com, she worked as the managing editor for a business valuation and financial forensics training and certification organization. Karie is a former small business owner who understands the unique challenges and stresses facing small business owners.

She graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in English and holds a master’s in professional communications from Westminster College.

Greg Coonley is the vice president of sales for the Business Services division of Centerfield, specifically focused on business.com. Since joining the team in 2015, Greg has helped build and bring to market the new business.com suite of products, including pay-per-click campaigns, sponsored content and marketing qualified leads.

Prior to business.com, Greg worked in customer services and sales roles at both Monster Worldwide and TechTarget. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Providence College, and lives near Saratoga, New York.

Dylan Mazeika is the SEO manager at business.com. He has over a decade of online marketing experience that he is happy to apply to helping his favorite type of person, a small business owner. His favorite thing about optimizing websites for search engines is that it changes daily, and that he gets to work closely with editorial and our small business experts. When he’s not working, he can be found rooting for the Patriots or motivating his “1,000 pushups a week club.” (It’s not about doing 1,000 pushups; it’s about the journey to 1,000).

Brittany Chirico has a decade of experience in website production. During her time at business.com, Brittany has been responsible for producing hundreds of pieces of small-business-related content. In addition to her work at business.com, Brittany has produced content for a wide range of other digital publications, including Security.org, The Senior List, Cordcutting, InMyArea.com, Secret Escapes, and the ParksByNature Network. It was there that she led the development of the Pocket Ranger, an iOS and Android mobile app for U.S. state parks and wildlife areas. She has been with business.com since the end of 2019, and enjoys making sure the content on the sites looks its best when it leaves her hands.

She brings a decade of product management experience to business.com. Previously, Sabrina worked for six years in product development at CVS Health, with a focus on digital and retail pharmacy. Prior to that, she worked for McKinsey & Company, with a focus on healthcare. Sabrina has a bachelor’s degree in biology and society from Cornell University and a master’s degree in health management from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Spencer Sanchez is director of engineering at business.com, where he oversees any and every engineering effort. Spencer has over 20 years of experience developing webpages and applications, including six years as the lead developer at a Flash-based educational software startup, four years as an engineer at an event registration and LRS company, and an additional year-plus at Wayfair as senior engineering manager on the visualization team, where he helped architect the 3D Room Planner tool. Since joining business.com in 2012, Spencer has helped develop both the lead-generation platform and the O&O website. He was also previously a mathematics educator in Boston.

Samantha Chan is a senior software engineer at business.com. In her role, she collaborates with the product team on developing new features, creating landing pages and templates, and more. Sam is an expert in UI/UX and responsible for the implementation of responsive and functional webpages using HTML/CSS and JavaScript. The team heavily uses React and enjoys creating components that can be reused throughout the site. Sam was born and raised in the greater Boston area. When she isn’t coding, you can find Sam working on DIY crafts and designs or finding the next food venture.
