APPX packages or Windows Store apps were introduced in Windows 8.1 and are not your traditional type of Windows Installer application that you might be used to. To view and manage these apps requires the Get-AppXPackage cmdlet. </p>\r\n<h2>Steps</h2>\r\n<p>To get started managing Windows 10 apps, we'll need to open up a PowerShell console as administrator. To do this, type in \"powershell\" in the Windows 10 search bar, right click on <strong>Windows PowerShell</strong> when it comes up and click on <strong>Run as administrator</strong>.</p>\r\n<p><picture class=\"aligncenter small\"><source srcset=\"/images/content/5b6/8e2c992a3a4f55d8b45ab/460_-824- 460w, /images/content/5b6/8e2c992a3a4f55d8b45ab/255_-456- 255w, /images/content/5b6/8e2c992a3a4f55d8b45ab/127_-227- 127w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 870px) 255px, (min-width: 400px) 100vw, 100%\"></source><img src=\"/images/content/5b6/8e2c992a3a4f55d8b45ab/350-627-\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"627\" data-content-img-id=\"5b68e2c992a3a4f55d8b45ab\"></picture></p>\r\n<p>This will bring up the PowerShell console. Once here, type <strong>Get-AppXPackage</strong> and hit enter and notice all of the applications that it comes back with — although you probably won't be able to read it fast enough! On my Windows 10 computer, I have 72 installed.</p>\r\n<p>To make the output a little easier to understand, pipe the output to <strong>Select-Object</strong> and then <strong>Sort-Object</strong> to get a list of all APPX packages sorted by name.</p>\r\n<blockquote>Get-AppxPackage | select name | sort name</blockquote>\r\n<p>If you'd like to explore the other options you have with Get-AppXPackage, view the help content.</p>\r\n<blockquote>Help Get-AppXPackage  -Detailed</blockquote>\r\n<p><picture class=\"aligncenter full\"><source srcset=\"/images/content/5b6/8e30051ee47c8578b459a/1200_-521- 1200w, /images/content/5b6/8e30051ee47c8578b459a/668_-290- 668w, /images/content/5b6/8e30051ee47c8578b459a/320_-138- 320w\" sizes=\"668px, 100%\"></source><img src=\"/images/content/5b6/8e30051ee47c8578b459a/813-353-\" alt=\"\" width=\"813\" height=\"353\" data-content-img-id=\"5b68e30051ee47c8578b459a\"></picture></p>\r\n<p>Once you've found all of the apps you'd like to remove, simply pipe the result of Get-AppXPackage to <strong>Remove-AppXPackage</strong>.
